Linda Zubiate Celebrates 35-Year Anniversary

In The News, Architecture |

Congratulations to Principal Linda Zubiate on her prosperous 35-year career with Carrier Johnson + CULTURE! Linda is a consummate professional, dedicated employee, mentor, and client advocate. Her efforts have contributed to several of the firm’s cornerstone projects throughout San Diego and southern California, including the brand new, 11-story Sony Electronics’ North American Headquarters; the County of San Diego Central Jail Facility located in downtown San Diego; Caltrans District 11 Headquarters in Old Town; and the State of California – Fourth District Appellate Courthouse in Santa Ana. And her current work on the Lake Forest Civic Center project and the GSA PedWest Facility in San Ysidro continues to win over clients. Dedicated to her profession and community, Linda also served as a board member and mentor for the San Diego Chapter of Architecture Construction Engineering (ACE) and as a Master Commissioner for the California Architects Board. She is constantly working to build the next generation of fantastic Carrier Johnson + CULTURE Architects by fine tuning their professional skills and teaching a class on presentation and interviewing skills.

Thank you, Linda, for your exceptional service and dedication to Carrier Johnson + CULTURE.

Linda’s colleagues also shared some personal sentiments. See below.

  • “Linda is a consummate professional directed toward our firm’s capacity to exceed client expectation…her internal focus in this regard assures that design team members have the tools necessary to succeed on behalf of each client. Linda is a special architectural talent.”     –  Gordon R. Carrier, FAIA, NCARB, Design Principal

  • “Linda grew up the old fashioned way in our industry. She started with multiple small projects for the Wild Animal Park and the world famous San Diego Zoo and moved on to large corporate, public and multi-family projects. I think she has worked on or directed more project types than any architect I know. She loves her clients and more importantly they love her. We are fortunate to have a professional with such a high work ethic. Her dedication to architecture and her craft have been shared with staff through training in many aspects of the profession. She has selflessly contributed her time and expertise outside the office.”    – Michael C. Johnson, AIA, NCARB, Design Principal

  • “Long before Hillary Clinton broke the glass ceiling in presidential politics this past week, Linda Zubiate was way ahead of her in the architectural profession. Linda not only rose to the highest levels of a male-dominated industry, but she took it a step further by mentoring all the up and coming young women of the firm, turning them into talented architects, designers and managers that went on to lead Carrier Johnson’s most notable projects! You see, here’s Linda’s style — she forms bonds with her colleagues, takes them under her wings, trains them in everything she has ever learned, and literally holds their hands through every step of a project. Now THAT’S what I call leaving a legacy behind — not just talented designers, not just beautiful buildings, not just awards, not just satisfied clients & repeat customers, and not just profitable projects — NO — Linda makes a bond and a friendship with every fellow employee she works with and those of us lucky enough to be in that circle of Linda’s confidants are those who “get things done”. We are wiser having known Linda and the special way she made working friendships into lifelong. I am Linda’s biggest champion. She has no equal. “
