Frank Wolden’s creative view of the city has led to his reputation as an artist and urban philosopher. He directs Carrier Johnson + CULTURE’s design process, bringing an unconventional background to the design of architecture and urban spaces. His deep belief that all projects must have a defining concept from which to build physical form inspires the creative workshop process and is the driving force behind his design work.
Over the past twenty years Mr. Wolden has been intensely involved in the transformation of San Diego’s urban core from a blighted area to a total community. Beyond San Diego, Frank’s work has ranged from landmark architecture to master plans for visionary cities across the globe.
Prior to joining Carrier Johnson + CULTURE, Mr. Wolden was the founding principal of the firm, City Design and held senior positions in planning and architecture with the City of San Diego, Centre City Development Corporation and the Jerde Partnership in Los Angeles.
